Phase I of Cannabis Standards Development: Packaging and Labeling

The Council on Responsible Cannabis Regulation (CRCR) and the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA)  collaborated to produce cannabis packaging and labeling regulatory recommendations that address suboptimal provisions in state packaging and labeling regulations and encourage regulatory consistency across states. Over the course of 16 months, leaders from the cannabis industry, other regulated industries, state regulators, and subject matter experts worked collaboratively to develop detailed recommendations and model regulations for cannabis packaging and labeling. The final white paper incorporates not only the National Cannabis Packaging and Labeling Standards Committee’s positions, but insights about other regulated products, research findings, and input solicited from hundreds of members of the cannabis industry.

UPDATE: We are proud to share the final white paper, Cannabis Packaging and Labeling: Regulatory Recommendations for States and Nations, with our supporters and policymakers nationwide! Get your copy here:

Cannabis Packaging and Labeling: Regulatory Recommendations for States and Nations

Phase II of Cannabis Standards Development

The process described above will be replicated as CRCR selects additional areas of cannabis regulation to explore and engages the appropriate stakeholders and technical experts.  Topics currently under consideration include laboratory testing and cannabis marketing and advertising. More information on the next phase of the standards development project will be added to this page as it becomes available, so keep checking back!
